We just found him there one fall day in Ontario. He eventually made it safely to refuge, but we had to escort him on his journey, and take some pictures in the process.Related content

Oh, not these little creatures again! I think they may be haunting me. We have them everywhere at school during band camp every single year, and they're huge.
Anyway, onto the critique!
I'm going to take a guess here and say you used macro mode for this shot? Good choice. Much easier to pick up on detail that way!
I don't know how much I like the angle. I'm still undecided. Maybe getting more towards the front of the mantis instead of being more towards its back would have been better? But then you'd risk it flying away! e.deviantart.com/emoticons/l/l⦠" width="15" height="15" alt="
I know it's not something you can control and this was a picture of opportunity, but I'm not fond of the road. The detail in the road itself is distracting.
If it were me, I might have gone and edited this picture so the only color was the mantis itself, and everything else was black and white. Of course, that's only if you have a program that can do the job. It might take a while to single the mantis out, especially since it has such thin legs, but I think it would have made the impact of the mantis that much greater.
