Fun fact: Linkle was originally going to be Link's little sister but when the game was released, Nintendo strapped that for some reason. I still think they're siblings

So since Link is based off Peter Pan according to the creator of the Zelda games,
I think Linkle should be named "Linkerbell".
Haha

I think so too! But I would say Tinkerbell would be Navi from Ocarina of time

I think you'd be right. Navi is definitely portrayed that way.
Especially with the bell sounds she and other Zelda fairies have in the 3D Zelda games.
Now we just need a molduga with a clock in its mouth, and the Gerudo as pirates again, with Ganondorf as the obvious captain.

Funny
They make Link a small Boy,
they make Link a young Man.
They make him a small Deku,
they make him a hot Zora,
they him him a strong Goron.
They make him a Wolf,
they make him a dark Self,
they make him into a freakin' DEITY of Wrath!!
Yet when Fan's (no kink involved) ask and beg for YEARS that Nintendo makes a "Girl-Version" of him,
the Developers get their Nerves into a Panic and have all Excuses not to
It "ALMOST" gives You the Impression they "are into small/young Boys" (no Calumny intended )
But hey,
" AT LEAST " they made a cool, adorable, cute and new Character,
where everyone knows - "Aha! THIS could easily be the Girl-Version of Link"
( tough everyone who studied "Linkle" for a bit, knows her Character Personality is clearly different than Links )

This is absolutely awesome, them assisting each other in combat would be awesome! I would've preferred it if they were actual brother and sister.
Also, I dislike her name as well. Why didn't they call her Linka? I think that would've worked way better.

I honestly do not see the harm in having a female option in a Zelda game.Β The only thing that would change would be the relationship status between Link and Zelda, and even then it would not be by much.Β Link hardly ever ends up with Zelda romanatically, that it would be fine.
It also would not be a problem if a female link ended up with Zelda, it's always an option.
They should either give the option to play as a male or female link, or make Zelda a playable character in a mainline game.Β Why wouldnt a princess/queen want to defend her people?
Ester from the Bible ring any bells?Β I'm sure there are lots of examples in real life and in fiction, that was just the one that came to mind the quickest.

Interesting how no one is screaming about how there isn't a man version of Samus or Lara Croft.
No one is worried about how we don't see female versions of Mario or Luigi. Or male versions of Peach/Daisy/Rosalina.
And despite every variation possible, no female Sonic.
It's almost like the person is a character with certain defined characteristics that shouldn't change like name, gender and general personality.

Yeah, I imagine they were furiously busy with something else. -insert eggplant emoji here-
However most people that were offended by Bowsette were offended by her "bimbo-ification" as opposed to Bowser becoming female.
Although honestly the whole concept was based on an in-game principle of the crown that makes the wearer more like Peach.
So not much of a stretch for Bowser who has used the cat bell to be Meowser, to use this crown power-up and become Bowsette.
But even that is still just a temporary on/off switch.
Zelda fans who want a female Link aren't looking for an on/off temporary switch, but rather a playable female Link.
Maybe I'm splitting hairs, but I feel like there is a difference there.

the fact they did not just make Linkle Aryl both in name in relation is such a misstep really, I choose to see this image as Link being aided by his SISTER named ARYL

It's funny that you say that because it turns out that Linkle was originally considered to be Link's younger sister, but Eiji Aounuma spoke against that because he didn't wan't Linkle's existence to conflict with Aryll's.

I think my favorite thing about this is just.... the placement and posture of these two in the composition. I'm sure somebody will think I'm a totally archaic-thinking sexist for this, but....
The right side. You've got Link, the male, with a slightly stronger and taller posture, on the lookout for danger, and these very angular, sharp shapes on his side, dragon-silhouettes, arrows and all this very aggressive imagery--aoh gwa I love the look on his face--
And then the left side. You've got caaaan't bring myself to type it, the female, more passive posture, not really a sense of weakness in what she's doing, but rather a clever way around undoubtedly stronger enemies than she might be able to cope with physically. You've got the rocks behind her, more solid colors giving a sense of cover and relative safety.... gosh I love her hair in her hood, I can just feel the way it would lay against face and neck....
I guess what I mean in a tl;dr kinda way is that.... I just really love the way you've got these two interacting here, in a lovely, balanced set of different character aspects.
Cool.
