Haha If you knew what the K-5 was capable of you wouldn't try and convince me, think 14.1EVs of light info per shot, as in you see a black photo with blown out highlights, I can make it look like a normal photo without any colour or luminance noise! It's smaller then the D5000 takes 7fps and has a sensor that rivals the Nikon 3Ds in terms of data captured per RAW! I like Canons, but I have to say the main thing I like about canons is the AF systems (especially AF-C) and their L Lenses, I don't however like their Prices, considering the Tamron 70-200 f2.8 has been tested to have a very similar quality (by 3 sites with different tests) but the Canon being 4X more expensive (build quality on the Tamron isn't comparable though) I can't justify unless I'm making money of my photos, which I'm not so It's Pentax for me Plus Dpreview gave the K-5 the gold award. On the other hand if someone offered me a 5D MkII for a reasonable price I'd seriously consider it.
Also I find with Canon they design their sensors to capture the info they want it to, rather than Nikon and Pentax which capture a crap load of info o if you want to play with the shot you get more data to manipulate, they are akin to the apple of the camera world in that sense, I think Canon photos out of the box have great tones and contrast, good colour balance etc, but as soon as you want to start doing HDR and that kind of stuff The Petnax and Nikon sensors give you more room to work. Its funny, whenever I see a HDR from a Canon without looking at the EXIF I already know its from a Canon, unless someone with one of the other 2 has produced their shots to look like, I know a guy who can manipulate his Pentax K20D to look just like a Canon HDR. I know Pentax is an Underdog, and they keep getting bought by different companies (Hoya and now Ricoh) but I like the idea I am supporting them, I have seen some amazing shots on DA taken with the K-5 an it really amazes me that the Pentax brand is not a lot bigger, I'm sure if they keep releasing amazing cameras like they have lately they will rise up there.. But I think Pentax is one of those brands people who do tonnes of research know are good, not good for those who walk into camera shops and buy what they are recommended by the Canikon Fanboy that works in the Camera Department, that thinks the Nikon D90 is better than the Fujifilm FinePix X100.. People have no Idea lol

I'm sure HDR is awesome with canon.. But Nikon and Pentax are Better, imagine awesome being better.. And that's what we're dealing with.
I have played with RAWs out of a 550D and I was able to pull more light info out of my Pentax My K-x! Which at the time was $400 cheaper, even my sisters BF's D5000 doesn't quite compare to the K-x in terms of EV Per RAW although it's pretty close, D5000 tends to be quite noisy when you fill light.
Not rubbish, Honestly, Opinions aside, I have read plenty of reviews and seen a tonne of photos on DA and other sites and its clear to me HDR is better RAW via Pentax Camera's, My mate has a 5D MkII and he has to take 2 photos to make HDRs with the same level of light info as I can from my K-5, he is a Canon fanboy but is impressed by the K-5.. True story. For 32-Bit HDRs the K-5 unquestionably reigns supreme, All you have to do is look at the DXOMark sensor measurements to know that. From What I've seen, the 7D (This is based on real photos) tends to be able to recover over exposed areas better than the K-5 but not by much but the K-5 Destroys every camera in fill light, OK remember this is based on real photos, no opinions (which I never take as valuable information) It's able to get every little bit, hell I can even turn the Dun into an Orb in photos, whilst still being able to produce a decent image! And that as when the sun is at max brightness! No Filters, not tricks, just pure sensor Power!
And that good sir, is why Nikon's and Pentax's are better at HDR. Only Lab tests and real world comparisons here, I'm not a fanboy remember, sure I love Pentax, but when I see a good thing, I give it the credit it is due regardless of brand. If Canon were better at capturing EV info to the degree the K-5 could, well I wouldn't have a Pentax It's as simple as that lol, I would have sold all my stuff and bought the Canon that was able to do it, maybe one day they will and then I'll jump ship, so then I can use L Lenses
