Now that Fallowfern’s design is set, I can finally get on to designing her kits with Waspwhisker. Here’s the first of that bunch, and also my favorite - Rabbitleap.

I always liked him after his short comic at the end of SkyClan’s Destiny, it had a good message about being weak at one skill everyone wants you to have doesn’t make you a failure, and what matters is being there for those you care about in whatever way you can, not whether you’re good at what everyone else is good at.

Rabbitleap isn’t given any physical description other than color. In the comics, he’s shown as having a sort of scruffy thicker pelt, though not totally long. I liked how that looked, so I decided to go with that for his design, though I ended up drawing it a bit longer than I intended. I decided to make him on the larger and heftier side like his dad, which might have contributed to some of his fear of climbing, as he’s not as light and agile as some of his Clanmates. He gets a few good scars since he’s a warrior and he did fight a dog that one time.

The only description given for his pattern is that he’s brown. I went back and forth between making him a plain brown cat with a paler belly like his mom, or pointed like his dad. I eventually decided that I liked the pointed look better and ran with that. He’s a darker and more saturated shade of his mom’s pelt, making him a nice medium brown. His nose, scars, and ears were just picked to go well with his pelt. His eye color was never described, but neither of his parents’ blue eyes seemed to go well with his coat, so I decided to give him golden eyes. I’ll just say they come from Fallowfern’s mother or something.

Overall, I’m pretty happy with how this turned out. There are tame rabbit species that can apparently have this brown pointed pelt, so for the EOTW ‘verse I’m gonna say that Waspwhisker saw a rabbit like that when he was a kittypet, and he decided to name his son after that because of how much his pelt looked like that rabbit he’d seen.
