Well, when you wanna get around the Green Sea, why not hire yourself a half ton, six legged walking machine?They can climb straight up, and ford most streams and lakes, and don't tire very easilly.
They're not very talkative, but can carry twice their weight, and accept payment in fruit and shiney objects!

No, they have been thouroughly cleaned out by a disgruntled little alien fellow, 2 inches tall, who constantly complains about how poor his food is. The food from the finest french restaurants.
