Awwh, thank you! And secret-stealing is always good for artists! I can't say I'm super special or amazing, but if you want to look at stuff I frequently reference, you can check out some of the stuff I have on my favorites! Tutorials and Body and Facial references, color references! 8D I usually have something I have open or am trying or have already incorporated into most of my pieces.

Thank You very much~!  I tend to struggle with line art/colors/shadows and highlights/small details...... so I have a long way to go~! XP

Ooohg, I still struggle with all of those. 8) For me, lineart was... two fold. I hate it when people tell me this but-- practicing it again and again really helped for making it less frustrating and quicker to accomplish. (I used to never line anything because I hated it with a fiery passion.) The second was finding a brush I liked to lineart with, for me it was Paint Tool Sai's Brush, set at 100% Density. I don't know why, that brush just flows really nicely for me. Other people like the pen/pencil tool in Sai, or even for a more vector clean feeling, use the pen tool in photoshop which gives you more control, but it's too tedious for me.

For getting to know shadows and highlights more-- I spent a while practicing in black and white; it really gives you a better feeling of value. You can also take a color piece, and depending on your program, de-saturate it. The grey scale picture you see gives you a good idea of your values, and if they're strong enough.

Annnd... colors are a lot of practice too; I honestly have about a bajillion tutorials on the topic, because colors range all over the place. This piece was actually pretty hard for me to do in the coloring stage, because of all of the blacks. I have a rule that I never use true black or true white, and getting variation out of grey with subtle color differences without making it look muddy can be a little mind-breaking. (For me, anyway!)

As an aside, your little story about the dapper skunk tattoo that you have made me dawh so hard.

Omigosh~! thank you so much for all the advice!    That was totally unexpected 0__0 *does her best to make sure to commit it all to memory~*

Awww~ and thank you on my Skunk    I had it a little rough as a kid, and the funny thing is my Grandpa isn't even a blood relative. He and my Grandma were just people my mom happened to know and she pawned me off on them all the time. I just grew up calling them Grandma and Grandpa, and that's what stuck. They're more my parents than anyone else ever was. So there's a lot of meaning behind it for me~     and then it makes me happy to hear everyone thinks he's cute~

Of course, you're welcome! 8) My grandparents had a strong hand in raising me too, so I know the feeling (at least in part.)
