That raptor is like,"Bro! Chill out, I'm only going to kill and eat you!"

Wow, you captured the movements of the animals really well. That's pretty much how I would have thought a velociaptor would look like, very bird-like. What colour do you think they were?

very nice ! I like it
I like the mood & the way you drew the scales on Protoceratops (also love your Triceratops and Minmi)

All the best,

You have sure made the protoceratops a nasty looking little beggar. I can see how it could be bittey enough to munch up a velociraptor. Most of the reconstruction of protoceratops that I have seen seem to make them seem small and sluggish and not particularly exciting. Hats off to you!

This one is really cool. I love the detail.
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of pencil and what size paper was the original done?

thanks

I don't remember the exact pencils I was using, but they were probably 3B, maybe 4B -- the paper was A2.

How Bakkerian, John! I wonder, do you interpret the velocis as being defensive, or aggressive in this scene?

It is rather bakkerian, now I look at. At the time I drew it I suppose I would have thought Veliciraptor the aggresor, now I'm not so sure.

That's why it's still my favorite piece by you (although I had forgotten it was yours until recently). It's a simple background w/very detailed & dynamic dinos.

I know that exaggerating predatory dinosaurs and making them into JP-style movie monsters is inaccurate, but didn't velociraptor at least have larger killing claws?

yes they did. the only reason for the supersize is steven spielberd thought it was too small to scare anyone, so he supersized it.

No, I think they're about right. Deinonychus had larger claws.
