Materials and Methods
Nikon D80 + Nikkor 50mm F1.8 + IR remote. My feet on the basement floor. Laces were drawn on using an ink marker. GIMP for post editing. Curves to increase contrast. Minor color balancing to bring out some green hues.

Playing around with ideas. My feet were freezing after this shoot >.< I think my legs are a bit blurry because I was shaking from the cold
Originally for this concept I wanted to have piercings on my foot and do the laces with real ribbons, but I'm too much of a wuss
I don't even have my ears pierced

you were gonna pierce your foot! *cringes* no wonder you went for the marker idea! still awesome though! couldn't you have stuck on loops so it looked a little like your foot was pierced? dunno if that'd work, just a thought....

Using laces might have been too literal anyway, and not much different from those kind of creepy corset piercing pictures.

thats a really neat idea! if you didn't want to actually pierce your feet to make ringlets (ow) you might be able to use a silver sharpie to draw them

Piercings would have hurt a lot, especially in this part of the body, hah. Glad you didn't do that ^^
Very interesting concept - did you try to paint in the laces with a chinese calligraphy ink and brush? The effect would be a bit smoother

I used a gel pen.
Would Chinese calligraphy ink and brush stay on such an uneven surface? Or show up dark enough? Paint probably would've been better

I remember seeing a photos of Chinese calligraphers practicing their art on nude models, the effect was very sharp - pretty much the same as if it would be written over a sheet of a good quality paper. The ink is surprisingly dark even though its watery appearance.
I remember having to scrub my hands for half an hour after calligraphy class, I tend to not be able to keep the paint/ink/glue/anything off me during art classes, hah
