The Heart of the Mountain
The Gentle Hand
The Sleeping Giant
A woman of few words and tremendous strength, Illyria is the foundation upon which her friends can rely for stability and surety. Even in times of duress and doubt, Illyria’s presence alone can provide her friends and allies with comfort and reassurance. A loyal and loving friend, she is the type to readily put her life on the line for those dear to her. Maybe just as important is that while this quiet strength has earned her much appreciation and loyalty from her own friends, it has also earned her just as much ire from her foes. To her, quietly pushing through life’s hardships and suffering is a virtue, but it has resulting in her needlessly suffering when simply speaking up would allow her to lean upon others as those around her lean upon her.
Illyria walks the path of the Slayer, a warrior who focuses almost exclusively on the empowerment of her Light Aura, the Aura of Earth and Body. Restless and active, cultivating it drastically increases the user’s physical qualities. It can make one’s skin as unyielding as the strongest of steel, their muscles as powerful as a demon’s, their joints as flexible as a serpents… to start. Slayers take this already immense boost to their bodies and further enhance it with techniques and spells that bolster them even further. Even the weakest Slayer is a nigh-unstoppable juggernaut.
I’m simpler terms, they’re tanks.
Despite her physical strength, Illyria just can’t keep up with her speedier opponents. People like Zero and Kesna can readily match her in strength, and Noli has magic capable of holding Illyria back and throwing her off the spell-caster’s trail in an instant. Repeatedly sparring with these three has given our Slayer the wisdom to find a way to adapt in an instant. To that end, she wields War God’s Decree, a powerful Kanabo and marvel of magitech engineering. The green lights store magical energy and generate explosive force with each strike. They also act as beacons and receivers based on intricate runework and mechanisms within the hilt and trigger grip. By positioning the grip along the hilt in specific ways, Illyria is able to change the shape of her weapon, and therefor how she approaches combat.
Thus far, I’ve come up with:
Gatling Gun Form—This form forms something like a drill shape as each piece of the Decree becomes suspended over an energy field. As the pieces rotate, they break off and funnel that energy out in bullets at a rate of 10,000 RPM.
Trigger Handle Position: pointed up upwards. The pommel of the hilt folds up to provide more leverage while aiming.
Chain Form—The pieces of the Decree fold out and are lashed out at range using a magic energy field to keep them connected. This chain has many tactical uses, and its pieces can temporarily disconnect from the rest of the Decree to lay down traps or even bind captives.
Trigger Handle Position: The trigger handle is unfolded, twisted reverse, and folded back in to point upwards along the rod.
Shield Form—The pieces gather and form a wall of repelling energy that can ward of physical attacks and repel magic attacks.
Trigger Handle Position: Unfolded and pulled halfway down the hilt.
Drill Form—The pieces gather into a shape similar to the GG Form, but rather than being suspended over an energy field, they gather into a razor sharp point. The rotations rip through stone and even steel like candle wax.
Trigger Handle Position: Pulled down to the pommel and pointed lengthways.
Considering the detail put into this piece, this was done in amazing time! I love every aspect of this picture. From Illyria's little smile to even her pseudo military specialist appearance! Well done, ! Well done!
