Description This lovely lady is but the latest installment in my "Pride People" series of watercolor paintings based on attendees of Seattle's 2013 Pridefest. The first pridefest since gay-marriage was legalized in Washington State and the Supreme Court of the US (SCOTUS) overturned parts of the Defense of Marriage Act which allowed the US Federal Government to acknowledge marriage between same-sex couples for the first time. In celebration, I tried to capture some of the many people, costumes, and colors of the day.

Cool painting and cool response to the person who first posted. I think a lot of people don't really understand the amount of discrimination most LGBTIQ people face either on a daily basis or quite regularly.

Lovelylife studies you did, Jen!

Even though I don´t see a lot of sense in such "Pride Parades" at all... as it shouldn´t matter if a person is lesbian, gay, hetereo or whatever... There are assholes among every bunch of people, so you should not reduce people to their sexual behaviour at all! You see?

All the best and hugs,

Chris

Pride is not about reducing people to sexual behavior; it's about showing the world that people of every sexual orientation and gender identity are all around us, in every race, region, and religion. Pride allows people who might not otherwise, see that there are people like them in the world, and that it's okay to be who you are. Too bad it's not the case world wide www.huffingtonpost.com/tag/rus… .

When every gay, lesbian, bisexual, transexual, transgendered and/or intersexed person on the planet has the ability to be who they are, live where they like, and marry whom they please, with out fear of discrimination, hate crimes, etc then then just maybe world will be ready to say goodbye to parades.

I see!

I was just pointing out that a lot parade participants go a bit overboard and nourish prejudices that way, you see?

All the best,

Chris
