Here is Joan for Big Dog Ink's Penny for Your Soul series!
I had SO much fun revamping Joan's look on this cover. When I was asked to design up some armor for her I about peed my pants. I was SO excited. And I specifically said "No breast shaped plates." No no no. I wanted more realistic armor, at least more believable. So I ask a friend of mine who loves this topic and HAD armor for some advice. She and I talked back and forth about it for a while. She got to see the layouts and the progress and gave me advice along the way. I looked up pictures but don't really have any books on the matter so her advice was extremely helpful.

In the end I think I was able to accomplish a solid look for Joan. It's still fantasy--it's comics. But it has a little bit of believability in it so we can forgive some parts. I also had to design her armor for flight and movement. Woman fights tooth and nail.

Joan is a very intense character. She is one of my personal favorites and I've been lucky to design clothes for her not once but twice. Each time I'm trying to up the game on her look. Add to her intensity and also stay true to her new self in the story. She's not a little girl anymore, she's back from heaven and mad as hell.
