Description Take Two of this contest entry for   I was not happy with the back and fore ground I had before and I wanted to do justice the wonderful book she is writing "Lockheart's Strings" athena-money.deviantart.com/ga…
I am finally happy with the background.  I had to step outside my comfort zone and I am so glad I did!  Everything you see here is mine including the floor!  That was fun!  Update:  Yay this won 1st place!

Woah...the woman on the left looks gorgeous, though, a little upset given how the corset is seemingly causing her pain! I'm happy to see you put effort into the floor (something which many artists just tend to ignore).

My age. But it was a while ago. I refuse to wear make-up (except for the occasional nail polish), so I had multiple people trying to show how good I look with mascara and such. My nieces and I liked to dress up, so that's what it reminds me of.

She is tightening the corset and using her foot as leverage, which she does not  have to do, she is doing it to get the corset extra tight to be mean.  It is not a good situation for the girl to be in.  You should read the stories, they aren't very long yet, but they are really good and will fill you in on the details of this scene, You will like it if you like fantasy books.

The colours of the backround are matching the characters nicely. Its a nice addition and no distraction. What I mean....I like the soft look of the backround. You use little hard contour there, so the viewer can concentrate on the main characters. But I think you know that ^^.

Your picture is now a perfect scene . It was a good choise to change it like that .

Thank you so much!  Yes, I actually went back in a took a blender over the background to soften it up a bit more when I was done, I thought it was still too hard.  It is so nice when someone knows why you do what you do!    I still need to skew the flooring a bit so the perspective will be right, but my program is giving me fits, I may have to go get Photoshop because Elements just does not cut it.

I think this is an improvement on the original--I like that you can see their feet in this one, particularly--and the background is a better fit with the overall tone and composition.

Since you asked for Critique, I'd like to suggest something that I think would be quick to do and give the image a big boost   Basically, I have a slight issue with the floor.  I do like the pattern; it's really pretty.   But the perspective looks somehow off, and parts of the floor even look like they are soft (for instance, around the area of the feet).  Maybe you could try something like this to align the pattern more along where the perspective lines should be (rather than just laying a flat pattern, as you've done at present).  Does that make sense?
