SO how do you go about making the clothes? Do you get normal sized patterns and make the sizes significantly smaller, or are there patterns for dolls?

Well, there are some doll patterns out there, but not too many, so your choices are kinda limited. I have a few different ways I go about it... I may look at a finished item of clothing and "reverse engineer" a pattern from it; that's how I developed my kimono patterns. With other things, I look at a human sized pattern (or a picture of a pattern, whatever) and mentally scale it to size and draw a whole new pattern. Finally, lots of different things can be made by modifying really basic patterns. XD (Ex: making a coat/jacket from a basic shirt pattern, etc.)
