WB Animation Character Design, YOUNG JUSTICE, Undisclosed. Pencil, Digital Color.

For kicks, a few members of the YJ Production Crew volunteered to be turned into 'toons for the show (A few of these designs have been previously posted here in my gallery.). I was provided with adequate photo reference, and upon completion, the drawings were met with the requisite giggles, and I was also pleased to receive welcome praise. In cartooning someone's likeness, it can be a fine line between properly capturing the essence, and spinning off into unflattering caricature.

In this design, I think I managed to capture Line Producer David Wilcox's handsome features, accentuating his heroic posture, while also hinting at his great sense of humor. The YJ episode in which his character debuts has yet to air at this time, and so, even though I've chosen to post this, I cannot reveal the character's name in the show, nor his role. Stay tuned for that.

David is a real fun guy to work with, as are all of the YJ Crew. One major frustration in this, of course, is that WB Legal prohibited David from providing his own voice for the character. BOOOOOOOO!!! They had some typically officious reasoning, but it only amounts to what I refer to as "Kill-Joy Policy F.U." Haha!
