Thank and OMG I saw that same article on r/analog a couple days ago. How you shot with this film much before? I've never tried it!

Yes is a slide/positive film E6 processing. They used to sell kits so that you could process it at home. I hope they offer them once again too. Positive film isn't as forgiven to exposure "errors" as negative film is. They say it was the replacement film for Kodachrome 25...but it never equaled that legendary perfect film. But it's a wonderful film and I look forward to picking up a few rolls from B&H in NY. It's nice to see these revival of quality vintage stuff. Vinyl records are also making a comeback.

The process of Kodachrome is too technically complicated and costly for them they say at this time. Kodak, believe it or not, doesn't have big-time money anymore. They just didn't see the digital age coming (or refused to accept it, thinking instead that film could never be replaced in photography) and so they didn't "adapt". Twenty years ago Kodak was selling a billion rolls of film a year but in 2012 they were down to selling millions. Their demise is a popular business school study. They could have been in on the ground floor with memory cards to replace dwindling film sales and of course digital printing. But it's comforting to see them trying to make a come-back of sorts and Ektachrome is a great product to kick start more sales.

Thanks for sharing that info, it's something I've always wondered. Like polaroid film I thought someone could get the recipe and produce it but I suppose its too hard. Imagine the sales though
