CHOW #98 - King Minoswww.ConceptArt.org
The King of Crete, step father of the Minotaur (his wife was made mad and cursed with zoophilia because Minos would not sacrifice a magnificent white bull to Poseidon, she then mated with the bull and produced the Minotaur monster of legend.) Also, in Dante's inferno, he is made a judge of the dead.

Nice use of the bull horn crown. Very symbolic of Minos' power and tyranny, and symbolic to his maniacal demand to the Athenians to have them sacrificed to the Minotaur.

Definitely one of your best. I can see you're pushing your limits, this is clearly more painterly and realistic than your usual works--which are still fantastic, of course, but getting out of the comfort-zone is good for artists. The lack of outlines is also something new, it really fits the atmosphere of the image. Overall, I'm absolutely loving it, you seemed to have nailed down his personality as well. The pose is excellent.

Nice work, and very moody, as you'd expect. I especially like the lighting effect on his armour--it has a real authentic look to it. It contrasts well with the heavy shadows in the pic and keeps the composition lively without ruining the mood.
