Description
The first of the four commissions I've accepted. This was for of her bird.Done in watercolors, except the pearls which were colored pencils. The castle *was* an inch big but then I decided to add the bottom part and it got bigger, either way I like it. I want a castle. I think it'd be awesome to have one of my own. but not a full sized castle, I want a house sized castle with little turrets and such. So cool.

This reminds me of a funny story my mom tells me about her colorful past.
So one morning whilst she was backpacking alone through Alaska she awoke with horror to the sound of something battering her tent, terrified it was a grizzly bear or other fearsome mighty predator she hunkered down in her sleeping bag, praying for her safety.
After several tense moments when she realized that nothing had actually torn open her tent to attack her, she dared to brave the unknown terror outside, steeling herself for the worse she exited her tent to see what all the commotion was about.
The day before she had hung a beautiful necklace from a branch before going to sleep. The ruckus had been the result of some ravens finding it and fighting over the shineys. She shooed away the raucous corvids and did her best to collect the lost gems from her necklace.
True story.

woo wow wow this is spectacular. I really love the concept, for some reason it makes me think back to old fairy-tales i would hear as a kid, that perhaps I had forgotten.

Very cool. From the thumbnail, the front of the crow's body looks exactly like the silhouette a man in a coat would present. Was that intended or am I just seeing things??
Either way, it certainly doesn't take anything away from the piece. Beautiful.

The subject matter reminds me a little of the drawings Jane shows to Mr Rochester in the book Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.
This has such a fairytale and timeless feel to it. The image of the dark bird stealing jewels seems familiar to the subconscious, as though it was trying to impart an age old lesson or truth.
