*grin* As a feline - No golden retriever for you!
Siamese, perhaps, or Persian. But no, no golden retriever.
Besides. They're ferret-like. Including the musk. Stinky kitty!

This is beautiful ^___^ Genets are my favourite in the vivverid family (although I love all vivverids).

Aw, what a beautiful painting! I've always liked the vivverid family (linsangs, genets, civets, etc).

they're so cute! I'd never heard of them before and now i"m like.. AHHH I love them so!! So tiny and adorable! So what's the difference between a linsang and a genet?

Servaline In reply to JessicaMDouglas [2010-03-29 23:54:28 +0000 UTC]
There are few noticeable differences between the species in terms of appearance, besides the obvious markings difference, but linsangs are put into their own subfamily in vivveridae and do live nowhere near genets (whereas common genets live in Africa, linsangs make their home in Asia).

I am very pleased that you found the support you needed. I firmly believe spirit brings what and who we need. Not always perhaps what we might want, but certainly what we need, and you my friend will always be a precious friend and spirit to many folk.
This of course is a truly marvelous and beautiful piece of work, and I think a finer presentation of the spirit of a genet is not to be found.
spirits bless,
Marion

well I just spent a stupid amount of time trying to find some web information that tells me the difference between a linsang and a genet. So far with no luck. I'm not sure what the difference IS, since they look alike.

here [link] Genets are in one genus, while linsang are in two others.
Apparently genets are the only members of the family that regularly stand on their hind legs, while linsang are more omnivorous.
Quite a nice piece, when I first saw it I thought of Sime's work that Dunsany liked to write around. I'll have to watch for more in this project.
Good to see you've a good support group, that can really help get one over rough spots, even when all else fails.

I think I love you for that link. *grin* I had no clue and I'm like... 8waves* I dunno,t hey're cute? Though now I'm kind of wishing I went with the asian version for this picture and did an african one for a genet. Mmm maybe next time. And thanks... Sime? I don't think I'm familiar with that artist. I'l have to look that up.

Very excellent. I love the length of the image and the composition is just fantastic. I adore how you did the background... it's really calm and beautiful. And the winged genet is really neat... so cute!
Awesome work overall.
