Description Didn't want to post this one but hey, those "YOU DON'T HAVE ASPERGER'S" stamps were starting to annoy me.
I do have a formal diagnosis for my Asperger's Syndrome, Tourette's, and Depression, so for me, this isn't necessarily about that.

I know for a fact that in some countries, there isn't access to free healthcare, that people can't afford a diagnosis. I know from experience that some doctors don't believe that disorders like DID and OSDD don't exist.

Doctors have told me that although I probably do have Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Dyspraxia, I can't get formally diagnosed because I was homeschooled and I need a referral.

Self Diagnosis isn't all about hypochondria and misinformation.

This is good, as many countries will even flat out deny that certain disorders exist (like DID/OSDD like you mentioned). Some literally can NOT get a diagnosis in their country. -Irak

No, self-diagnosis is never okay, unless you can physically check, with proper equipment and certainty, what is wrong, never, ever, do this.

I understand exactly what you're saying and perhaps my stamp is unclear, but I'm certainly not talking about physical illness. I know that can be dangerous.
As I mentioned in the comments, I'm referring to thing such as dyslexia, which for me, my doctors agree I have but refuse to give me a formal diagnosis.

If they agree you have it but won't give anything is medical malpractice and can be used as ground for a lawsuit

Of course I'm not saying every instance of self diagnosis is accurate, however, I'm very aware that not everyone has access to a means of diagnosis. One can't necessarily know exactly what they do or don't suffer from but sometimes it's the only means a person has. Some may take it too far by say, taking one quiz online and immediately taking the result as fact, but many people spend hours researching what's considered wrong with them so as to find a solid reason why.
I for example struggled with hearing voices for years and have looked into many different disorders with the goal of saving up to pay for a therapist who specialises in such disorders as opposed to the NHS doctors who are only willing to deal with my anxiety, depression, and autism.

Once again, I am certainly not saying that people should go onto the internet and use a few symptoms to claim a disorder, I'm simply saying that there are many people with no other option due to reasons such as finance.
