Description Painting her lips with the scarlet brush,
Dipped in the ink which will form her features.
She looks in the mirror and smiles in her wan way.
She knows exactly what this will do-
And relishes the thought of it.
Her own little sadistic pleasure is hidden within.

The kohl frames the deep pools of her eyes,
A marsh for men to be sucked into-
No time, no air to scream. They stay wallowing in the mix-
Pleasure and pain in one fell swoop.
As the liquid tiger-eye fills their lungs-
With its opulent luxury.

It's not a game for just anyone to play,
No, she knows her motives, her reasons-
She is aware of the destruction in her past,
The destruction she will lead these men into.
Like the siren calling men to the shore,
She calls them to her den.

The high class surroundings hide her intentions,
She is a woman of the world-
Full of her own knowledge that runs deeper than anything a book will teach.
The knowledge of how to seduce, use.
And feed on the victims which fuel her empty existence:
On the peak of existence, and about to topple over the edge.

She smoothes the satin draped over her shoulders,
Pulls up the stocking so it can just be seen.
The tease is worth the wait, make them think they want it.
That they have control over her,
Hold the cards to their own chest.
Yet they don't know the real truth behind it:

It is she who rules, who will eat them alive.
It is she who is:Β Β The Queen of Hearts.

"than runs deeper than anything a book will" one typo, "tha(t) runs..."

It's good, you can almost hear and see the woman at a dressing table saying it all in third person in a mansion before going down for a game of cards with her guests...

Nice piece; the irony of the final line is interesting to me. Most often, the queen of hearts is referred to as a good woman in music/poetry, but here you make her out to be the villain.

Bravo!
