Yeah, like after you defeated him in the S.S. Anne, he doesn't have his Raticate anymore. Some say the reason he's at Pokemon Tower in Lavander is to mourn his Raticate (I think FRLG expressed it more).

Yes, very sad. I mean, he's an orphan, his Grandpa forgets his name, his sister doesn't talk to him much (She gives freaking massages to YOUR Pokemon but not her own brother's), you took away his title of Champion with him only having it for one second, and your character killed his Raticate without caring. And the Pokemon games just give him a bad attitude, making him seem bad. He just wants to get back at your character for making his life suffer, yet people do not see this injustice Gary faces.
If they ever have a FRLG remake (Umm, LavaRed, PlantGreen? I don't know), I seriously hope Gary has a better life.
I also feel really sorry for Gary. He deserves much better than this.
