I think it's doable without resorting to Igglybuff type Pokemans! Caterpie is useless too but you train him to get that Butterfree! I want more Pokemon lines like that where you evolve them twice after like 5 levels.

I remember back as a kid doing this kind of thing too. One time I took one of my Pokemon players guides out to our trailer parked in front of the house and spent the next three hours filling a sketchpad with Crayon drawings of pokemon of my own design by copying parts of pokemon or altering the whole thing. I remember drawing a cool uber version of scyther.
