Yes I did. I found a rubber screw on lens hood to fit my 70-300mm lens and the glare seems to have disappeared. I took this on the trip up to Connecticut. On the return trip, the conductor allowed me to hang out in the rear vestibule which made for some interesting photos.

Some conductors are cool, while others try to confiscate your cookies when you board. (Okay, that happened to me, but the guy was just kidding)
