I made this a while back for an awesome friend colleenekat for her birthday <3

It's basically an illustration of Asuka on top of EVA 02.

My knowledge of color theory is limited yet, so my opinion may not be right, but I think using just two colors characteristic for Asuka (red & orange) in complement to black and white is a great choice.
Also I've got a feeling that background is somehow related to her personality or emotions.
NGE is really hard to understand by yourself (without hearing or reading other people's theories before you make your own). I've spoken with some number of people about their opinions. Some of them have seen everything and even read manga, some other have seen just only TV serie with DaR and EoE. Opinions were diverse, however, we all agreed, Asuka is great character whether you like her or hate her, because she is distinctive and memorable. And that's what many other franchises and stories lack.
Seeing this art instantly reminded me every single thing about her.
