so a while back i got my hands on the sly poster sony released celebrating the series 20th anniversary. i fucking love this poster but i felt it was a bit on the dark side to see all of it's glorious details. so i got inspired by movie posters and how they're backlit and stuff. i looked up already made backlit poster frames and people want a small fortune for them for some stupid reason. so i said screw it. i'll make one myself. after looking up how various other people made their own i dived in and gave it a go and the end result came out fucking amazingly! i love it so much more now! the parts in total cost me 70 bucks not including the poster.
here's the steps i took making this.
1. build the back frame with some common wood. it's dirt cheap and easy to cut. i used some small wood screws and epoxy to glue it together.
2. paint the frame black to match the original poster frame
3. next i glued the cardboard backing from the original poster frame to the back of the wood frame. and drilled a hole for the led strip to go through.
4. after waiting for the glue to dry i then lined the inside of the frame with tin foil with spray on gorilla glue. let dry after a few minutes
5. mount the led control box to the bottom of the frame and fed the wires through the drilled hole. then mounted the led strip around the inside of the frame
6. and finally mount the poster frame to the front of the box and it's done!
im going to wait to mount it on the wall cuz the power cord that came with the led strip is way too short. so i gotta find a better alternative.
