Amazing portraiture! He has this peculiar aura of angst around him, like catching a fleeting glimpse of his most terrifying nightmares. Like a man who is afraid to sleep.

you nailed it, again. he was very angsty, but probably more afraid of waking up, then falling asleep. hopefully he is at peace now, and reunited with his wife, a loss he never quite recovered from

I bought a lot of Yann Tiersen's work yesterday, just found out about this piece and I love it. I think it's somehow fitting to that great (in many ways) man's story. 

When the violin and accordion come up, I imagine him and his wife dancing in an illusionary fantasy.
