Description According to the Transformers Wiki, Tap-Out was once a long time prisoner of the Decepticons and mastered some incredible grappling/hand-to-hand combat skills. I thought that was pretty cool, a wrestler/melee fighter Autobot! Soooo, here he is. Tap Out was made from a Generations Drift with the spoiler removed and the feet modded. To get them like that you have to remove the toe and cut a groove where the front of the foot can continue to fold back, that's about it. Now he has a nifty hoof-look. I used a WFC Cliffjumper head for him and gave him articulated hands from a Revoltech Black Ox so he could wrestle with some Decepticons. A paintjob and gloss sealing later, Tap-Out was finished!

I'm planning to do my own custom airbrushed Tap-Out soon, using the same head but a different mold. I've never done a full repaint on a Transformer before, and I'm concerned about removing all the parts and paint wear. Any advice for a first-timer?

Very informative. I'll definitely apply some of what I've seen here. Thank you.

Ohhhhh. It took me a while to realize he had "hoofs" before I read your notes.

Revoltech Black Ox....the Tetsujin-28/Gigantor baddie? Looks a bit like a black Getter?

Any plans on doing a Glyph? Tap-out was her body guard for some time.

Looks really nice. Do you ever try to apply any washes to give the panel/recessed detail some more life, or is it mostly just drybrushing? I've noticed a lot of the Transformer customizers I watch tend to avoid this and I'm not sure why.

All the panels/tech you see on Tap-Out here are paint washed/wiped. I left the gloss to provide highlights this time instead of drybrushing.

grate work, but whats with the lack of a waist joint? the body u used should have had a waist joint but didnt..i guess budget cutbacks are to blame.

I think I can make a cut waist, it'll just take a lot of work and the doors would get in the way now that I modded them to fold up behind his back. If I do another drift mold I'll make sure he has a waist joint with the doors down by his legs.

that would be really cool, i dont see many customizers who add articulation to a figure. Again it seems like something the manufacturers should have put in at the beginning but all in all its a grate mold for modding.

Very impressive, cool to see a rather obscure character getting some unexpected loving. And it is such a simple mod to, but it works to make him different from the Bumblebee body he used to have.
