► PERSONALITY

meticulous + dependable + observant + direct/straightforward + unpretentious + suspicious

Tenor is a very careful person who takes pride in his work. It might not be the best, but you can be assured that he has put his utmost effort into making sure that it’s been done to the best of his capabilities. No errors means a satisfied client, and that means returning clients, which translates to income. That’s very important.

Tenor is also very observant. It’s a good trait that seems to show his clients that he cares about them, or a sign if people he cares about are alright, but it’s mostly something that can give him a heads up if something is wrong. Did you dye your hair a slightly lighter shade? How come there’s dark circles underneath your eyes? Did you not sleep well last night? That accessory that you’ve hung on your bag previously, did you accidentally lose it somewhere? Why are you fidgeting so much more than normal today? Are you hiding something from me? It is very hard to earn Tenor’s trust, being the insecure and suspicious person that he is. His previous experiences has taught him that a friendly smile does not immediately equate to a person’s kindness. If you are being nice to him, he’d think that you’d definitely want something from him. It is not possible for someone to carry out acts of kindness for no reason, stop acting - just get straight to the point on what you want from him. Shoot.

If you ask around town, people would describe Tenor as that one quiet, timid barber with mint coloured hair. Most probably don’t even know his name - he’s just that one guy that people only have a faint impression of, and only bring up when they really need that hair cut. This works well for Tenor - he’s prefers to stay behind the scenes. It’s more comfortable for him this way - good work doesn’t always need public recognition, as long as you know that you’ve outdone yourself. Besides, being in the spotlight only means that you’re more vulnerable to people’s critique and any harsh words that they might throw at you.

In public Tenor only smiles slightly to show that he means no harm, makes sure that he is very polite, and speaks in a soft and soothing voice - at least, that’s what seems to have worked with his clients so far. In private and with someone that he trusts, Tenor is a lot more talkative, open and relaxed. He swears a little too much, likes bad puns, sob movies and occasionally, a good beer to shrug off some stress.

► LIKES

  • Money. Literally, just the thought of having money in his bank account comforts him.
  • Music. He grew up with it so it was only natural. Likes the rock most, but also most genres except metal, because that just hurts his ears.
  • Homemade / comfort food. He couldn’t cook that well and he rarely gets the chance to eat food that isn’t just, yet another standardised meal.
  • His mom. Sadie has taught little Tenor many things that has been useful in life, and Tenor has kept her teachings very close to his heart.
  • Cats. You give them food, they come to you; you don’t have food, they ignore you. Simple logic, works well for Tenor.

► DISLIKES

  • Heavy metal. For fuck’s sake, just stop screaming into my damn ears.
  • Luxury items. Why are you wasting so much money on something like this anyway? You could have kept the money in case an emergency comes up, you know?
  • Politicians and public figures. The way that they put up a fake persona throws Tenor off. Why are you smiling all the damn time? Chill.
  • The Hospital. Reminds him how little humans can do to keep living when their health declines.

► PERSONAL HISTORY

(TL;DR version)Tenor is a Printy County local. His dad is a dreamer musician and his mom stays at home & does odd jobs. Somewhere along his life his dad's band split and his mom caught an incurable disease. The family didn't make enough to cover the expenses so his dad started to ask for loans from family and friends (but got rejected soon after) ; then later on switched to shady money loaning services. Tenor did part time jobs/helped out at his dad's gigs and eventually quit school to become a hair stylist's apprentice. His mom eventually passed away and his dad eventually couldn't handle the debt & pressure and disappeared. Tenor stayed behind in his mentor's place (flat upstairs of the studio) and inherited it after his mentor left Printy.
