I have to take a larger file pic of this before using it as a print. I also varnished it which really brings out the darks. I will take a new picture tonight hopefully.

also, there's a strange bit of light area where the left thigh meets butt-crack (for lack of more graceful term) that doesn't seem to blend with the curve, ya know what i mean?

hehe you said butt crack. I will take a look at it at home, but I do see what you mean...It is kinda sore thumb like when you look at the rest of it...

hey jack, i really like the idea of calling it "pas de chat" and, by the way, how in the world did you know about that step? that is precisely the position i would move through if i were to begin a pas de chat from fifth. however the position itself, in a static state like that, is called "coupe'" so you could also call it that.

I don't know anything about ballet so to speak except there is something beautiful about it. I wanted to call it pas de lune but I didn't know if it made any sense so I was doing some googling. Thanks for the insight. Now, coupe is just coupe?

it's not you, jack. that really is just how my legs are, unfortunately. i refer to them as tree-trunks.

jjackm In reply to lisalyn [2007-08-31 16:53:47 +0000 UTC]
This is done I think finally, maybe. The foot is better and so is the calf. Things are off in that foot area but it's too late baby now...The major screw up is I painted your head too close to the edge of the canvas so it will take some creative framing....

jjackm In reply to lisalyn [2007-08-27 19:00:44 +0000 UTC]
I happen to like the tree trunks, they have character and say something about your life in a sense. I just need to model them and adjust a few more things. I'm a lot closer though....

Her legs are large being a dancer but you are right. I've been trying to figure it out too.

jing-jing In reply to jjackm [2007-08-27 18:49:13 +0000 UTC]
i guess its just the way they're positioned. i mean, from that angle they're bound to seem wider than they are?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
jjackm In reply to jing-jing [2007-08-27 19:01:49 +0000 UTC]
I don't think it was the wideness so much as the perspective of the foot and the calves were out of whack. They still are but they are close.

jing-jing In reply to jjackm [2007-08-27 20:19:45 +0000 UTC]
the calf on the left seems a bit round, no?
its hard to figure it out.
but its still a very well done painting. i mean, i wished i could paint in general.

You're right again! I will address that problem tonight! It is too round and too long too. The other one needs some modeling too. I think the foot is pretty close to the correct size finally after four tries....It needs some modeling too in the toes....Thanks for looking...
