Great detail, capturing the fury of the elements and the stark magnificence of the rocky coastline. This place could easily be on Earth; there are a lot of places with the topography is quite...strange.

Amazing detail,
I actually thought it was a photo with a bit of manipulation.

I agree, the rock formations are done extremely well and everything matches up perfectly. Nice work!

The rock formations are so well made and make this a really interesting piece. I love the sense of scale and mystery added in by the mountains in the distance and the colour scheme too

that's a cool matte I really like the scenery, and I think you made it look convincing, you achieved that photorealistic look which characterizes mattes
however, two things bother me a bit.
first off the fog which covers the horizon line infront of the background rocks, it looks a tad bit tooo artificial, like it was only there to make it easer to blend the rocks into the water there.
and, the clouds...they are too unsharp, and they seem to overlap the horizon, although you'd probably even see the horizon line at such a weather. and the left clouds have the shadows on the left, while the rocks and all have them to the right.
but yeah, other than that, that's really nice work here, the colours look really realistic, too.
how long did you work on it? and where do you look for stock? am curious, because that's always difficult when I work on my mattes, the stock search

Daniel

hey, thanks a lot
I came across morguefile a good while back already, didn't like it back then, because all the files came zipped and that, but if you recommend it so much, I'll take a closer look perhaps it's worth it
usually I had only my own photos and sxc

This is amazing...I thought it was a photo, until I saw the rock formations.

Only, then I thought, "hey, wait a minute...rocks dont grow like that on earth..."

And then I was like..."oooohh..."

Great job!! (:

Looks great! the only part that looks out of place is the big spike on the left, you can kind of tell that it's placed over the wet spot on the rock. Try removing the wetspot, or possibly painting some reflection of the dark spike on it.

Can we see a before and after??
