Drawing her name from Rutaceae, Rue is technically a garden fairy. Her namesake plants often adorn the boarders of a fairy community as their fragrance tends to drive away any critters (dogs, cats) that might otherwise make unwanted visits. Equally prized by the fairies for use in soaps, lotions, perfumes, dye (red) and occasionally medicines (mainly ointments). Rue claims it's not her fault they don't work on humans

Rue also claims that she has a "condition" that causes her to sprout antlers every fall and winter. Fortunately, they tend to shed every Spring and she can usually hide them when growing during the summer with her hair. She does get rather embarrassed talking about them. While the fairy nurses have offered to "trim - cut them off" them each winter, Rue is rather "sensitive" about it. She claims it would hurt, apparently having tried that once before, until they're ready to shed anyway. Besides she would just grow them back by the fall.
