Not all fairies are princesses, glamourous models, or starlettes, some actually work for a living. Technically a Tinker fairy, although she prefers to be called a gremlin, Sparks just loves taking apart, assembeling, and playing with her mechanical toys. And contrary to human myths, she and her fellow gremlins actually try to repair human technological mistakes. We just make so many mistakes. They just can't always get to them in time.

That artist knew how to line and shade! VERY good.
Little people such as her or Borrowers could WRITE THEIR OWN TICKET in our modern age, if they could COULD make intricate repairs.

Sparks makes a tidy sum (of chocolates) repairing (micro)circuitry as well as mechanical watches. Just don't get her started on all the mistakes us big people make on them.
She usually kept busy at the local Boeing plant.

Sparks is a pretty smart cookie and long ago diversified as chocolates just don't keep long term. She is well invested in caramels, jams/jellies/preserves, and hard candies, as well as a few bakeries. She is also addicted to coffee (several sugars) [or should that be just a little coffee to help mix the sugar?] and her morning jelly donuts.
But you're right, she is not likely to be going hungry anytime soon.
