"No, no," the boy shook his head fervently, while the rest of the children mimicked in an echo of shaking heads. "Not ball," he pointed to the shrine, the center of the arched alcove where an effigy of one of the Children had once stood. "That."Peering more intently at the darkness there, Jathen finally saw what they were so intimidated by. Crouching within the alcove in an eerie simile of the Avatar statue it had replaced, was a creature of legend silhouetted against the shadows.
"Drannic," the boy murmured, young voice awed.

I've been playing with this one for a while now, an attempt to work-out some more of my 'lighting issues'. It's ink and watercolor, and i think it came out OKAY, though it wasn't quite what i imagined in my head....and i ended up tweeking the contrast on it with the computer more than i would have liked. (though really not that much comparitivally...computer screens distort things SO much.)

Though it didn't come out exactly the way you imagined it (what ever does for any of us?) this is still a very dynamic piece. All of that rock work and shading must have taken forever.

and when i'm actually done somehting....for the moment, the entire diolog for the whole thing seems to be comming out at the same time. and ONLY the diolog.

At least you're making some progress, right? It's a step in the right direction, and don't try to be done in too much of a hurry. Otherwise you'll have two books to massively overhaul.

I was referring to the one you sent out already. If you decided to get it back in December and work on it, you could fix what you found incorrect about it. That's what I meant.
