I'm still alive!The Endless Realms art director was away for a week, coincidentally at the same time I was feeling a bit under the weather, so I took the opportunity to take a break from ER stuff to work on my freelance projects - this is another commission for Vangarthia, this time of his gryphon character Dawnstar.Β Maybe because it was sorta therapeutic, or maybe because I was sick, or maybe "just cuz," I spent longer on this than I really meant to or estimated, but I'm really happy with how it turned out

well he does have fur there so i guess he has a natural "cover" for the nudity or at parcial cover.
also nice details on the background and the weapon! spears can be very practical for flying characters.

I always do love skimming through your gallery to find new works you've done (and there are so many beautiful pieces that are so new to my eyes). This is absolutely stunning. Firstly, you have worked the composition beautifully. It makes for such a vast space that darkens into a very daunting setting, and I think you've done a marvelous job with it. I also wanted to let you know that the textures are very well done, and your use of contrast in this is perfect. Wonderful as always, Jen!Β

Nice.Β I love the subtle detail of the approaching storm on the horizon.Β Gives it an interesting progression.Β I think it would've been even more awesome if you detailed the ground just a *tiny* bit more before it starts to blur.Β Well, I have a lot to say, maybe a little too much, but I don't know if you're looking for in depth critique or anything so I'll just leave it at that

*chuckles* To be fair, the ground is actually fairly detailed, although it's not apparent at this size (full size is around 4800 pixels, I think?Β So three times bigger than shown here), but you're right, the ground was one of the few places I skimped on details (the other major one was the rest of the sky/clouds aside from the storm - I was too lazy to add in more details for higher resolution), comparatively.Β I wanted it to feel really high up, so I could really only fit in so many details without drawing the eye away from the main subject.

Beautiful work!Β I love that the character's anatomy looks realistic and natural, rather than contrived.Β (As an example, the legs/feet look proper, rather than just cobbled together and stuck on.)Β Β Love the lighting & shading, and the contrast between electrical storm and sunshine in the background.
Also....oooh, the soft fluffy tail!Β I wants to pet it! *Ahem*

Hey, thank you very much!Β I sometimes struggle with making postures and such look natural, especially with how OCD I am making my art sometimes tend towards stiffness/sterility :bΒ So, thanks!Β Haha, agreed, his tail is very enticing :b
