Yes, I'm a bit biased about my riding preference, so I thought I'd throw all the english riders a bone with an english version of 'western potential'.
So here it is 'English Potential' in my 'Foal for sale' series of drawings. at least english saddles are easier to find good reference pics of o9n short notice at 2am.

Awww, he looks so smart, all decked out in his big-horse tack! Somebody forgot to close the tackroom door..... !!!

That has to be one of the cutest things I've ever seen! once someone left our tack room empty... the pony got in, and ate all the "people" licorice. She's a stink.

Thank you! Omg... ponies are more trouble than they are cute! I knew one that would let himself out of his stall (through 2 different kinds of locks) and then go let all his favourite buddies out into the indoor ring. Could have just as easily gone outside, but no, Shorty just wanted to hang out.

very very cute

Although i've never understood this whole english riding position, the position we use today as "english" riders was developed in Greece by Xenophon (i think, college was a long time ago lol) and is a much softer and understanding riding position compared to the original british hunting position which..... oh wait i'm going on now lol sorry

any who your drawing is great

same here. I prefer western over anything else. It's just the easiest and most comfortable and you can go trail riding! yay!

I've seen horses have to go through weekly massage therapy to undo the damage of English saddles; less weight distribution.

yeesh. that sounds really bad! What if you ride them most of the time western and some of the time english? Will it still mess up their backs?

Joceweir In reply to AmberHorseArtist [2010-11-03 04:25:12 +0000 UTC]

I doubt it would. Many horses do both.

I'm biased Western pleasure, I perfer a more comfy seat on a smooth and graceful quarter horse, but it depends on the rider, some people abuse the curb bit and rider their horses until they become peanut rollers.

Joceweir In reply to AllisonWalker2 [2006-12-20 07:21:25 +0000 UTC]

I prefer all around western riding... I've seen a lot of back problems in english horses that could be prevented or at least eased by spreading out the weight a bit more with a western saddle. Especially those obviously built for western work. But english does look clean-cut and sporty, so it's nice to have a english version to go along with my western potential drawing!

Joceweir In reply to DarkBattousai [2006-04-10 19:07:48 +0000 UTC]

I don't understand.... the riding type is english, as opposed to western. Both are used in north america, but neither has been titled 'american.'

That's so cute! XD I like the foal-ness of the drawing, with his gangly legs and floofy little tail and big shoulders and stuff. And of course I am partial to the English tack...
