Description Two roses have been made out of the pages of "The Secret Garden". They stand on a painted wooden base under a glass dome. The butterfly on the base is also made from "The Secret Garden". Dome stands approximately 9" high by 6" wide. Glass dome is removable.

I'm not sure this can be called a book alteration, but since I used left over pages from a previous alteration, I'm going to go with it.

I love roses, and I'm also a book lover.

I would have bought this if I had found you in time...

It makes me a bit sad though, to see the pages torn apart. But I love all your work, and it's not like you're just ruining books for no reason. Ah, a bibliophile with all my heart Β  I love this work.

Thank you! Β I know what you mean. Β If I didn't do it myself I'd probably cringe when I saw book sculptures. Β As it is, I try my best to only use books that are heading for the trash can. Β Just a more artistic form of recycling. Β I'd be happy to remake this piece for you. Β Just let me know

This is really beautiful, I love how it's made form "The Secret Garden" I can imagine staring at it for hours trying to figure out which page is which.

You know, I didn't pay attention to what pages I was using when I made it. Now I'm going to have to go see if I can't figure out what they are. I' glad you like it, but now I am going to be staring at it for hours!

Oh dear, I'm sorry, hopefully that won't be such a bad thing. I really love how it's in the bell jar, very 'beauty and the beast' but also I just love bell jars. You're very welcome, I hope it's not to distracting, haha.

I have a slight obsession with bell jars myself. I was glad I finally found an excuse to use one! I figured out the pages though. They're the chapters when Mary makes friends with the bird, figures out where the garden is located, and meets Dickon.

They're just that little bit different. Things seem to look prettier under them, compared to a glass case. For me it has something to do with them being round, I don't know much about them, but I also associate them with vintage. I know you can get modern ones, but they just have a 'vintage' look to them.
There pretty much the prefect pages for this! was it hard to figure them out, just out of interest?

Lol, no it wasn't too hard. I guess I've read the book enough to recognize the story from a sentence or two. I recently found what I was told was a cheese tray. It has a rounded top like a bell jar with a glass handle on it but it's only about three inches high with a wooden base. I'm trying to decide what to do with it.

That's really lovely! I hope I'd be able to do the same, haha. Gosh that's rather tiny, erm, I'd be tempted to fill it with miniature butterflies. I'm not to sure how you could make them not lie flat, place them on the glass as well as the bottom of the board? If you had a book that small you could make a village type modification, like one of your last projects; you could also make a paper ship, like a ship in a bottle type thing, only in a dome?

Maybe a thin gauge wire to hold the butterflies in the air? That would be interesting. I was tempted to try and make a mouse, it is a cheese tray after all, but I haven't figured out how to do it yet. The village or a ship would be neat too. So many possibilities. I'm going to have to start buying up all the glass I see.

Now I want to find a bell jar, or cheese board, and do that. Depends if your wanting a realistic mouse or not, I would suggest for a slightly non-realistic one you could use wire mesh to crate a cone shaped base? Wire skeleton?

Lol. That artistic push can be a horrible thing can't it? I just started reading "Under the Dome" by Stephen King and it's making me reconsider your village idea.

Oh yes; you're either barren of ideas, or they all come crashing down at once. Then its project overload because you want to do everything, haha. Can't say I've heard of it, but I'll look it up.
