Thanks alot! No tutorial yet unfortunately but in the future IΒ΄ll probably have more of that. For this piece I remember I started out with a very rough pencil sketch and then started painting the shoulderplates of Lich-king, itΒ΄s easier to get the rest of the painting done once a little part in the picture is rendered well, at least for me. I often use Color Dodge for glowing light effects, perhaps too much sometimes. Soft light and Hard light are good for coloring the basic tone but I find that you need to paint ontop of it to make it look good.

Interesting, Detailing small part to get general visualization (is that right?) that would be unthinkable for me, oh by the way one more question (if you don't mind), do you deal with background later (when tyrael and Lich-King fully rendered), or early phase in your painting (rough sketch, color, to "guide" the rendering of both tyrael and Lich-King)?Β your background and foreground looks "connecting" each other makes it really alive, something i really struggle to achieve, maybe i can learn something from you, thanks and sorry for a lot of questions and i'm really looking forward to your tutorial, new fans here

Yes, exactly. The background came along as I kept painting, I started off with the clouds behind lich king, and it took alot of optimizing into the very end. ItΒ΄s like tracing or following footsteps sort of, one step leads to another and you just keep going until all the puzzle parts fall into place. One thing leads to the next. ItΒ΄s the same thing with muscle anatomy, if you know one muscle itΒ΄s easy to remember which muscle is next to it and so forth. No problem at all, happy I can be of help.

Intense, dramatic, poetic. I love all of the detail and color, the action is there and the motion is real. Your painting is life-like in the way that as I glance across it, I feel caught up in the heat of the battle I could feel the rain and the wind everything. Good luck in the contest.

Awesome!
Wish you good luck for the contest!
Your painting is very well done, details make it almost real and lights and shadows are well placed.
The tension owe to the fight is palpable,I wonder who will win?
