Wow, this is beautiful. The colours, the... well, everything. I haven't a clue about fractals, really, so I don't know the technical terms. But I do love this.

Phoenix-22 [2006-10-19 23:27:50 +0000 UTC]

Very nice work, the way each little "section" is perfectly lined up is quite an effect, and the use of what looks to be julian (for the inner designs) is very creative and really adds a bunch of depth to a 2D image.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JoelFaber In reply to Phoenix-22 [2006-10-20 18:54:46 +0000 UTC]

No Julia type variations in here at all The orbs are created with pdj.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Phoenix-22 In reply to JoelFaber [2006-10-20 23:15:33 +0000 UTC]

Sheesh, pdj usually screws up my fractal (or is that the blob variation?).

As far as the plastic script, if I want to get those inner designs, I go with julian or linear, but you're defiently thinking outside the box.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JoelFaber In reply to Phoenix-22 [2006-10-20 23:54:01 +0000 UTC]

If you want to use pdj in place of the normal blur portion of a plastic style flame do this:
- set the variables
   - pdj_a = 1
   - pdj_b = 1
   - pdj_c = 1
   - pdj_d = 1
- set the radius
   - use the pdj value on the variations tab
- scale the transform so you get a nice clean "reflection" (it isn't really a reflection; toward the middle it gets pinched)
- translate the transform so the position of the inside part is the way you like it.

You will have to play with the last two steps a bit to get it the way you like it.
