Yay...new artwork. I'm somewhat pleased with this. The nose is definitely annoying me, but there isn't much I can do about it.Yes I know several people have already drawn this particular picture, but I've always wanted to draw it, so I did.

Thanks! I couldn't find the actual reference I used which was edited to show just part of her face with the other part disappearing into the shadow but here is another picture [link] . It's the same reference photo. It's just edited differently.

If yer gonna draw like that, ya gotta make it super-sizable... but I got the "save to desktop, open in fast stone thing going..." Whadda call that? Prismacolor and patience? Yeah, I ain't got that kinda patience. And when I tell people that want commissions they're gonna hafta shell out a bennie just to get started, seems I ain't got the motivation either.
Where's the reference, hmmm? I was gonna give you a nine-six... but make that nine-four for lack of reference. XP

amazing job..im planning on going into colored pencils as my new medium, any tips on how to do skin tones??? or can you tell me any artist(s) here on dA that are using colored pencils as their main medium? great gallery you got here..hope to see more of your work in the near future..

Thank you! Color pencils are fun to use. As far as skin tones go, it is very important to layer. And if you're going to layer, you have to pick at least two or three colors that you'll use as a base color(midtone of skin), one you'll use for shadows( normally darker than midtones and at times it can be more than one color, but you've got to have one primary color for shadows) and as far as highlights go, I sometimes use the white of the paper, but you could also pick a color that is lighter than both the midtone and shadow. I did a tutorial a few weeks ago. It isn't specifically on skin tone but it gives you an idea of what I mean when I use the term layering. [link]
