Description Last night's experiment with DAZ Studio and Iray explores using "UltraScatter Advanced Instancing for Daz Studio" on the model DAZ was giving away Stonemason's "After the War". The idea was to have two armies on separate sides of the city. I learned that you can easily distribute objects on a specific shader zone and use a simple split distribution map to accomplish the effect.  I place 200 soldiers and 200 aliens using this method.

Thank you for taking time to show me this!

I have totaly missed this in your gallery.

Now, this is cool, but as you say, this time some smoke would help.

Ooo.. by the way, do you know how to make heat blurs/heat waves?

That would look awesome back of the Blackhawks exhaust!!

The only way I know to heat blurs/heat waves is in Photoshop with filters and layers. There is also a great plug in for After Effects called Heat Distortion [ www.videocopilot.net/products/… ] for animations (works great for still images too)

I found the Heat distortion plug in when I was doing a lot of work for an aerospace marketing company.  I was also surprised to find out that most aerial shots of planes and helicopters in ads and commercials are 3D, because of the high cost of doing air to air photo shoots.

I had a look at it, that is just insane! Such a great tool!

I have to see if I need to start using aftereffect, or if there is some way to use something similar in GIMP.

Not sure if there is a way in Gimp since I've never used it.  I use all the Adobe stuff because I have to for work.

i understand. Well, that suggestion got me thinking after I saw the tool. I'm working on doing it manually... maybe...

Normally I just use the wave filter in Photoshop and blend it with the original

Very nice and epic scene. And a great work with the various shaders...

You did what I never dare to do to avoid burning my computer! Just a bit bigger, please...

Thank you for the kind words,
I am not sure the aliens stand out enough, more experimentation is needed
