Description A drawing of when Scorponok fought Fortress Maximus in the Transformers Marvel series (in the Headmaster story).
Drawn for my friend Altan.
Note: once I'd drawn this I noticed that the image looks very similar to one in Regeneration One issue #0. must've been in my head somewhere.

Will you do color?

Gambits-Wild-Card has done a fantastic job of colouring it:

I also got a commission done by John Paul Bove who did a superb colouring job of it. That one hangs on my wall.

That really is a great coloring job. It's a lot like the Gen 1 cartoon style.

They kinda look like Metroplex vs Scorponok.

Best rivalry since Optimus and Megatron. Killer drawing, Joe! it's so dynamic! A giant battlefield filed with so much detail! Love the scale you have with these two!

Thanks very much. That's great to hear about the sense of scale. It's difficult when there's no smaller characters involved to act as a comparison.

Indeed! And you pulled out off flawlessly! AND also making the background feel in scale with these two titans! Β

Very cool! The age old rivalry between these two boils out on the battlefield once again.

Cheers. Maybe next time I could draw them both in robot mode. All guns/claws blazing!

It is really drawn well! Love the perspective, angle, and terrain. I like how you drew Fortress Maximus with vizor optics instead of the original two eyes. Overall it is epic!

Thanks very much. For reference for Fort Max I used a combination of a photo of the figure (for alas, I don't own the big guy)and some old Marvel comics.

You're very welcome! I see that is cool to know. He is such a ridiculous size for a toy, I own him and he just makes me laugh and happy at the same time.

Haha. I'm waiting for the price of the reissue to drop then I'm going to have to bag myself one!

Cool, that's a good idea as he is much cheaper than a original pre-owned one and hopefully can go more cheaper for more sales.
All the best! By the way do you have a G1 Scorponok?

JoeTeanby In reply to JP-V [2013-12-22 11:27:50 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes! He's my pinnacle of G1 chunkiness. Although he's missing a lot of parts unfortunately. He's good at giving hugs!

Awesome! Yes he lives up to G1 brick and blockiness! No problem, its great that you still have him. Haha nice, big claw hugs.

I love that Headmasters story, even though it is just all about introducing a boat-load of toys.
