I gave up on this. I wanted to paint Peter Garrett from Midnight Oil.. and behind him, what he stood for. But I had difficulty putting it all together so I cropped off part on the right. But I think that made the composition a little better.I used pictures from their best of cd The 20,000 Watt R.S.L. for reference. It's painted with acrylic on daggy cardboard.
I like bald people.. and not because I don't like drawing hair. They're just so interesting. Peter Garrett is the most interesting bald person of all.
If you don't know who Midnight Oil are, or why they're Australian icons.. please look them up. I couldn't be arsed explaining.

love midnight oil, first heard them in '84 loved them since. I like your picture. just wont hang them on my bedroom wall. for me midnight oil is aussie but what they sing about could be and is here. love all the songs, forgotten years is my favorite.

Oh, the power and the passion. Did you see Sliverchair sing a midnight oil song on the aria's, it was pretty good. Anyways, you've captured peter garret quite well here, was the background in the original image or did you add that yourself? Good work.

i don't know who this fella is and i'm not familiar with "Midnight Oil", but i really dig this painting. it's visually bold and captivating... good composition and rendering skills.

I usually feel comfortable with my compositions, but with this I had so much trouble. He was just in the wrong spot looking very awkward. In the end I sliced off part of the right side to make him more in the middle.. but it was too much.. so I stuck a bit back on! *shakes head* I'm so dopey sometimes.

Yeah me too. I like to use cardboard with bends and marks in it usually.. if there's not I bend it myself. That's good because I'm so careless with my art.. just gets thrown around the room.

Well to do him it only took a few hours.. but I couldn't figure out what I wanted to put behind him.. so I sat just looking at it and occasionally painting something small for days and days..
