Oil on Canvas 13" x 23" Taken from an old B&W dated 1911, the three masted schooner John A. at the Pacific Coast Codfish Co. plant in Poulsbo Washington after completion of the 1911 fishing season.
This is the first work in a series of paintings depicting the cod fishing industry of the early 20th century in the Pacific Northwest of the United States from San Francisco to Alaska and the Bering Sea.
I cut a half inch thick piece of plywood 13x23 and took some industrial contact cement and glued a piece of canvas to it, then gesso'd over that then painted on that, seems to be working.
