"True Believers"Oil on canvas, 48" X 84"
Inspired by my work with refugee children in India and Nepal.
This piece will be on display at Galeria Gitana in historic San Fernando, Los Angeles California. Opening reception is Saturday, April 14th, 2012 from 7-9Pm [link]
Also in the exhibition is the insanely talented Katherine Cheng, who goes by snowmask [link]

The transition of tone across the canvas is striking in that it leads from richer detail to a lighter area of more ambiguity. This works well in spite of the fact that it would seem to be counter-intuitive; one would expect to be led/drawn from sparce to rich.

I am interested in sparseness and focus. This involves issues of time, transformation and depth.
