Thank you, Maya.  I too am a fan of Aidan Turner.  I am eagerly looking forward to viewing the second season of POLDARK.  I am assuming it will be shown in the US sometime this summer, as the first season was shown last year.  In the meantime I have read the first three books of the Poldark series by author Winston Graham.  I will try to read the rest of the books in that series when our library gets them.

I saw this on Stars Portraits.  Your best drawing as of this date.  Love his eyes.  Just great.  Congrats!

Thank you, dear.  Somehow I feel I did not quite succeed in capturing his features properly.  Maybe this is due to the photograph I chose to use as a reference.  I don't know.  In any case, I like how he looks in it.  I could not resist trying to draw it.  In many of Aidan's photos, he has what I'd describe as a "brooding look" about him.  So far I have only seen Aidan in the first Hobbit movie (An Unexpected Journey) where he plays Kili, one of the dwarves; but the amount of time he appears in that film is so brief, I really don't remember what he looks like.  I hope to see the new BBC production of the Poldark Novels when it is released.

Joyce, I look at it this way, if you want to see "exactly" what a person looks like, then you take a photo.  Every artist's rendering is the way they see it, and I like the way you saw this person.  I think you got the eyes, and if you don't get those, then the rest of it doesn't matter.  I liked the Hobbit.  Didn't care so much for the  Lord of the Rings series that much, but I am more inclined to the Hobbit series.

I like how you have worded this, Kathleen.  I can agree that we often see people in a different way than others do.  For instance, Ed sometimes tells me that someone resembles someone else, but I don't see that resemblance.  When drawing someone's portrait, it is easier to draw some people, than it is to draw others.  Some people have a certain "look" about them that is hard to pin down upon paper.  I think Aidan Turner is one of those people.  Lucy Liu is another.  At least they were hard for me to draw.  Challenges are good, though.  They force us to look closer than we might otherwise do.  Besides, if we do not succeed the first time, we can always try again.....and again, until we get it right.

I agree.  Sometimes I have to erase a mouth or eyes ten times or more because it doesn't look right.  Then I just say to heck with it and move on.  LOL.

Thank you Sue, for your kind words.  Yes, I know you have a soft spot for this subject.  I think I would probably feel the same way about him, if only I could see him in something more than his brief appearance as a dwarf in The HOBBIT, An Unexpected Journey.  I am looking forward to seeing Aidan play Ross Poldark in the BBC's new production presently in the works, of The Poldark Novels, which I understand will be released sometime next year.

If you get the chance, see Desperate Romantics.  It was the first thing I saw him in, because I adore the Pre-Raphaelite painters and that's what it's about.  They take a lot of liberties with history, but it was still really good.
I checked it out of the library, so maybe your library will have it as well.
And yes, can't wait for Poldark - I read it will show on Masterpiece Theater.
Hope you have a good Friday and again, wonderful work!

Thanks for that information, Sue.  I will follow your suggestion and check our library system for that film.   During our second trip to England (May 2006), one of Ed's cousins and her husband took us to Boscastle on Cornwall's coast.  Recently I borrowed a book from our library titled, POLDARK'S CORNWALL by Winston Graham.  It contained many photos of the towns and villages of Cornwall, including Boscastle.
