That arm is too impractical. It's obviously too Heavy, and unless she had already enhanced her ribcage, she is going to rip herself in half.
And that is not putting into account how Lopsided she is going to be. Just because a character is muscular, doesn't automatically mean they can handle such extra weight without proper support.
She throws a Punch, anyone with half decent Reflexes would not only dodge, but would also have nearly half a Minute at least to quickly dish out damage to her.

Dude its a comic relax and for all you know that metal may be made out of some super light weight indestructible material. use your imagination and stop trying to apply real world physics to a comic where anything is possible. lol

FoxfangJohn0056 In reply to Queen-Mother [2019-02-12 19:00:04 +0000 UTC]
I can't. I can use my Imagination as much as I like.
But I have gotten it hammered in enough to think. If it doesn't look practical, chances are, it is impractical.
Look at RWBY. The weapons look awesome, the Semblances look Cool... But Then, you think. You realize, No matter what, unless Ruby's Muscles are tightly wound like Steel Cable, she is not actually lifting her Beloved Crescent Rose.
And even if she were like that, That also means she would be able to Punch her Sister Yang into the Stratosphere.
And I say that arm is impractical, because it's purely mechanical. No Artificial Muscle bundles, just Heavy Servos. Not to mention that if it were So Light, it Would be very easy to break. Titanium isn't indestructible after all.
I learned that the hard way.
It's also shit for Blades.

Nah. They're Robots. They don't follow the same Rules as Organics. For all we know, their processors are much smaller and easily able to compact and shift around to accommidate their mechanical parts.

Ironically, the original Ghost in the Shell manga has a little skit in it about the dangers of a really powerful cybernetic arm attached to normal human bones.

fred1009 In reply to TheArtificer [2019-02-16 20:24:51 +0000 UTC]
I noticed that in the "Six Million Dollar Man" TV series. A cybernetic arm would have a powerful grip but it's lifting potential would limited by the structure it's attached to. I find movies like "Ghost in the Shell" and "Appleseed" interesting because of the social / psychological effects of being a cyborg. But, removing and keeping a brain alive in a "shell" would be a formidable task. Β Β Β

I agree to a certain extent. Β If something is drawn in a cartoonish style, then, yeah, you can stretch the boundaries pretty far. I just find it amusing. Β Like when you see an image where someone is holding a huge weight out to one side. Β IRL, they'd tip over. Β But the Β more an image defies the laws of science, the harder it is to "suspend belief" (a literary term). an example is if you have and anthropromorphic mouse and wolf involved in an intimate relationship. Β To make it work, the creator has to make them closer to being the same size, which isn't very realistic, which is why the improbablity of Β anthropomorphic story works. Β The whole situation is too absurd Β to take seriously. Β But I still find it amusing... Β ^_*
