Contest prize for featuring a scene from their story The Fire (read it here: The Fire The rainforest was on fire. The inferno, a startling orange amid the serene greens and browns of the forest, clambered onto the woods and ate up any plants and animals in its path. Smoke hung in the air like a black thundercloud, unable to escape into the air through the thick canopy of the trees. The RainWings screamed, scales flashing acidic green with terror as they flapped away from the ravenous flames. Quetzal snapped his head around dizzily as he inhaled another breath of smoke, trying to find a familiar face in the frantic crowd of dragons. Where is Kiwi?!, he thought almost hysterically, I'm going to kill that dragon when I find her!Quetzal took to the air as the branch he hung on collapsed into the fire. He fought his way through a group of RainWings and yelled, "Kiwi! Has anyone seen her? KIWI?!" Most of the RainWings ignored him as they desperately flew away from the fire. One RainWing, however, turned back to face him.
). This is the scene where Quetzal finds Kiwi in the forest fire and is relieved that she's still alive. I hope you like it!
