Description
Sketches from the year 1987 when I was rethinking the interior general plans for the Arcos MK I. In its original incarnation the ship featured a semi-circular corridor that ran parallel to the outer edge of the primary hull, but this caused more problems than it solved, so in July 1987 I redid the original interiors so that they match what still exists on the ship. The images shown here reveal the concepts for the Passenger lounge bay in the bow.
There were to be two lounges on the ship. One for the crew on Deck03 so they would not have to mix with potentially offensive or difficult passengers, and one for the passengers which is shown here. The image on the left shows the access corridor leading to the lounge - including an interesting window design built into the double-pocket doors. The second image (top) shows the lounge bay and its ceiling. A plan of it, and finally (bottom) an image of its layout showing the bow windows and a holographic interaction area.
This also was the sheet that featured my door over-ride mechanism. Since the doors on spaceships are either hydraulic or electrically powered, if the power went down the doors would not open. If this happened, the crewman/passenger had the option of turning a wheel next to the door that engaged with the door mechanically. To open it the person simply turned the wheel to the right, and then it would spring-load back to the upright position again. They then repeated this action until the door was open.
NOTE:
THIS ARTWORK HAS NOTHING WHATSOEVER TO DO WITH FUCKING STAR WARS SO IF YOU CHOOSE TO PUT IT IN A FOLDER LIKE THAT, EXPECT ME TO REMOVE IT.
