The Cabrini Green high rises used to sit on this empty lot. Cabrini was a failed housing project that turned into a violent, gang run neighborhood. Fifteen thousand people lived here at one point. The last high rise was torn down in the Spring of 2011.

The 1992 film "Candyman" was shot here.

Oh, wow. I didn't realize that any of the Cabrini structures were still standing last year; it's a little surprising that they were around up until last spring.

Well, that's hopeful. Even the worst Targets I've seen are better than the average Wal-mart. It'll be strange to think that with time they may disappear altogether.
