This came up while considering things that seem to glamourize the submissive female rolemodel.religion, in many cases, though not all.
and pornography... and i dont mean suicide girls-esque and erotic art.
it can also be viewed as Religion IS Pornography.
but yeah, it has a bunch of different thoughts jumbled together, and it was done at a time when i was very angry and confused about things I was raised to belive via sunday school teachings.
This painting got me a suspension for 'lewd and violent' protest at the end of my senior year.
its mainly acrylic, with magazine and newspaper clippings, glitter, fabric flowers, and red dyed flour : )

I don't even remember how I stumbled across your page here but yeah... "Hey." I like this image a lot it's pretty funny (funny=good) and makes you think, I like the simultaneous implications from the words upon it. This is one of few pieces I would commend for actually using text effectively to entice more analysis of it. (there are a lot of pieces, in my opinion anyways.. with pretty mindless text strewn acrossed it..) But anyway I really like this, and I think it's funny you got suspended, a bunch of my more 'controversial' art my senior year came up mysteriously missing after the vice principal saw it hanging in the back of the room, so I relate to the amusing misunderstanding people project upon art of this sort. Though mine's progressed in a different direction now I still think this is pretty cool.

especially thanks for the text thing..... i hhaaaaate most text useage in art in general these days, it seems like one of those unspoken fads or whatever. i was wondering weather i was utializing it properly.

yeah I know, you'll see some of that in my older stuff (BS phrases implying the metaphor present) before I realized it's a little more open to interpretation to leave the text alone. But I think it contributes to this in a positive manner, rather than detract from the overall.

You rock if for nothing else than the fact that you got a suspension. I don't usually like overly political/abstract/mixed media collage type stuff, but recently I've been more appreciative of it, especially if there's a good non-imposing message. Better yet, if it's fairly open to interpretation. I think the top, with the leaves, flowers and overlaping skull is my favorite part of the entire piece. I really like how you can see the edge of her lips. Good job.

thanks, it seemed too serious, the skull with the gawdy flowers was to spruce it up a little.
the only problem i have with the jpg of it is you cant see that the leaves are made of pages from porn mag! tee-hee.
